Semester 2 reflection blog

 Semester 2

This semester has been a marginal improvement from last year and I have started to enjoy myself more than before. As I am not learning everything from scratch, my deadlines were met quicker and my products turned out better and better. As I continued, staying after school was less and less needed. This was a strangely fun semester and it is regrettable that I won't be here next year.

Some of my favorite projects were the event poster, infographic, and the logos I created.  the event poster I created was for a special Drum Corps International event at Arrowhead Stadium. This is one of my better works as far as graphics, but not really for background detailing. The main focus of my time was the kneeling mellophone player, which despite many tries to perfect, was done to the best I could conjure. The color scheme was decent, and my poster gave information, but if I could go back I would fix a lot.

I also created an infographic on the halftrack, a specialized military vehicle used in WWII. the research was very difficult as my subject is a very obscure and strange concept, but I eventually scrounged up enough to create a project. If I were to do this over, I would probably sketch out where everything would be, including that ugly pie thing. I would also recolor the corner production dialogue as well as the ocean a deeper blue. The map is my favorite part of this is the map and both the M4 and Sdkfz 11 halftrack models. The Sdkfz 251 turned out acceptable, but may have been too much to handle at that point, but is still okay. If you are confused on what I have said, read the infographic.

My final logos were also fun to conceive and create. I was a little slow developing them, but when I hit the drawing board they took off. My favorite is displayed below, and y behance will be linked if you wish to see more. This was a fairly simple project where I just got color schemes online and slapped them on. No regrets on this project, sweet and simple.

As far as my time usage, I started out much like 1st semester, which was a lot of wasted time, but as I got from project to project, I started to realize the faster and more focused I would work, the more would get done. i also realized that I know how to do illustrator things, so I started to gain momentum around March. My infographic was a slow finish that ended up being done a couple days late, and my dog vector portrait was around a week late, but as my greeting card came I realized that I can work much faster. The advertising and logo design projects then went seamlessly and were completed in accordance with their deadlines.

This class was a very deadline heavy class and I struggled a lot, but it helped me to understand that E-comm will be a huge time commitment moving forward. When I move on I will remember the feeling of satisfaction I had when a project got in on time, and the anxiety of turning in a project very late. These will all help me in the coming years.

If I had some things to improve on, it would be my time management and my motivation to one project. My motivation can sometimes be lacking and I want to fix that by finding my niche, or by finding a new spin on a boring project. I also need help on time management, but that will come with the hellstorm of junior year. Overall, e-comm has helped me improve over any other class so far.

In conclusion, I have loved this class for the people, material, and just everything I have done as it has been a new and excellent experience. I will miss this class and think fondly of it.
