Relief Printing
Relief printing is a very simple and easy to understand method of printing, where a carved block is covered in ink and paper is pressed on top. Usually linoleum or simple wood is used to carve as a surface and the ink is pressed against the paper transferring the carving.
Lithography
Lithography is a printing process utilized when printing on a stone like limestone. To draw, a printer would use a greasy tool so the sone would accept the material. After the drawing has been produced materials such as TAPEM and Gum Arabic, are applied to give various attributes to the stone. After that, ink is applied and several sheets are pressed before the ink will stick to the page. The ink finally sticks after six or so tries.
Intaglio
Intaglio processes utilize strategies where the ink applied is below the surface of the plate. One method is drypoint where one etches an image straight into the metal. The other is etching where a sort of soil is created over the plate and the image is reflected by what is taken away from that soil.
