This project was originally going to be a very different style, until I decided that my trip to Washington DC had decent enough photos to share. If I had to do it again, I would bring a better camera, but I did get enough pictures so that was a plus. I really enjoyed that trip regardless of the photos as well. Many of the pictures, mostly taken at night, were fun and very meaningful memories.
As far as what the photos actually are, they are all pictures of various memorials around the city. In the center is the Washington monument, taken from in front of the Jefferson memorial with a beautiful view of the night skyline. On the far left is a picture of the WW2 Memorial, where each state has a pillar dedicated to the losses of their citizens to the war. The Franklin D. Roosevelt memorial is just to the right of that memorial, taken later at night, but only about a quarter mile from the WW2 memorial. The Mlk monument was a memorial that I was overwhelmed by, as it was easily one of the biggest given to someone who was not a president. The plane was a picture I took at the Smithsonian Air and Space museum, of Amelia Earheart's own plane. The Lincoln memorial was one I only got photos of the outside, but the Kennedy Graves struck the most meaning to me. We visited Arlington National Cemetery before we departed for Kansas, and the Kennedy graves stood as a memorial to great soldiers and leaders.
This trip showed me that America is one of the most unique and diverse nations on the planet, and many times the strongest. My visiting to this city showed me that no matter how many issues our nation has within itself, only the world's ending can stop America from being a symbol of freedom to all.
