Semester 2 Video Reflection

Semester 2 in Review

This semester, the projects we worked on were large in nature, but there were only three, so it was a better timeline. The second project of the semester was a movie trailer recreation for the move Sky High and it was a very large undertaking, so large in fact that it did not get fully finished. I f I had to do this over, I probably would have evaluated the tech skills needed and done a different project than I did. Despite that, I still think it turned out fairly well.

For the final project of the semester, my class produced 4 short films, one of which I worked on. The one I worked on was about a group of kids who get killed on a camping trip by a mysterious man. it was fun to use out of school locations and was done to my group's best with what we were given. Overall, I am satisfied with this end to our semester and year.

As far as time usage this semester, I would ask you see my graphic design blog as my progression was very similar. At the start of the semester, my time management was sloppy and little work got done by me. As I went on, I started to get more involved until the short film, where instead of being useless, I was essential.

My areas of strength would probably be my vision. I have a very creative vision and I feel if was in charge of a film, I could use my smarts to fix problems that arise. I can lead a script in almost any direction along with the story. The director in me loves to create, change, and mold.

I am not a huge tech guy, so cameras and editing are still a little foggy on me. As cameras I am beginning to excel at, I still do not understand editing very well.  Editing confuses me as the program we use still has so much to unlock and search. If I were to sit down for a day and look around, i may understand it, but computer programs are just not my thing.

My semester had a lot of lessons learned to reliability and collaboration. My Greatest accomplishment was my short film in which I was the artistic director, and helped get the set up. I learned that the plan of a film is essential, not just optional for a good project. This was also my first outside of school filming experience and I really enjoyed the outside work as it was no help from our teacher on the set. This was a good year and I think it has prepared me successfully for my next year in video.

In conclusion, I will never forget this class, failures and successes alike. I have loved working on these projects and with the people I know. By next year I will be remembering my experiences and applying them to bigger and better projects.
