Semester Reflection (Video)

This semester has been filled with some new information that I did not have coming in. At first I was sure that entertainment was what I wanted, but I now see that it may be convergence, if entertainment proves to much. I never knew it could be so much fun and I would be joining an incredible group of friends into the program.

My first project was a very enlightening experience simply used to outline our strengths. The second project we did was a simple one as well, simply used to help us with the camera equipment and editing process. These two were helpful and I appreciated the knowledge gained. However, the most valuable skill from this, was the will to dare and talk to people you needed. For example, in our second project, we needed a teacher to do some acting and we conquered fears of awkwardness and came out with an excellent project.

After this, was when the real work started. We had to compose a news story on someone in the school so we chose a golden idea, but it was to ambitious, and we learned that if we had gone through with it, we would have failed. This was a very good lesson in shooting for smaller things when starting out. The story ended up about a student's action figure collection, which was not huge and glamorous, but ended up looking very good.

The 1 in 2000 project, mentioned in a previous blog, was a fun learning experience. This project hit a lot of road bumps but eventually came out looking great. We first did not have sound in the initial project so we had to fix that. Then we had to basically do the entire project twice, but it was a learning experience making me sure to check the mic twice.

In conclusion, I am glad that I took this course and my mind is open to change in course. I also look forward to the new semester.
